House Tour - Craft Room

It's Friday! YES MA'AM! First of all I would like to say, SCREW YOU MAY AND JUNE! Let me explain...In the winter I look forward to being a bit busier at work. April rolls around and I get into the swing of things and I think; "Ya, this is great." Then May and June comes and PUNCHES YOU IN THE FACE! You can't think it gets so busy. You are like a robot; wake up, work, try to swallow food (this morning I had a spoonful of peanut butter and a slice of cheese for breakfast), close your eyes for "sleep" (when in reality you just dream about work) and start the day over again! Now that I have that off of my chest, let's continue with this post, shall we?

So, we are moving down the hallway now to a spare bedroom. This room growing up was my brothers. After he left for University I instantly moved in. I mean, it did have a bigger closet after all! I never changed the color but I loved having more space for my stuff. I was ALWAYS in my room as a teenager.

When the house became mine we re-did the floors and painted the ceiling and trim. I knew I didn't want to keep it the navy blue color that it was but I was undecided on paint color. So, I opted to just prime the walls for when I was a bit more settled and had time/money to think about spare bedrooms!

Well the time has come! As I have mentioned LOTS on here, I'm into crafting right now. Sewing, painting, gluing and knitting, I'll take it all. Even walking into Micheal's gives me the giggles! The problem with that, it takes up an ENORMOUS amount of space.

In the winter I had a revelation; you are unwed, childless and therefore can be selfish. Make that room into a craft space for yourself!! So, that's what I began to do. First up was a cutting table.

My mom had so "generously" left me an old dresser she had in the laundry room. She used it as a folding table the problem... 4 out of the 6 drawers were broken and the finish on it was pretty ugly! But being the crafty girl I am, I looked at that old piece of trash as a piece of treasure!

I "hired" my dad to help fix the drawers and make a larger cutting surface to be attached at the top. After a little white and silver paint this is the finished product....VOILA!

I knew that I wanted my craft room to have a CRAZY color. I mean, when else are you going to get the chance? I picked highlighter teal and I love it, Mom hates it! ha ha! It's so bright and cheery, just makes you want to craft when looking at it, doesn't it? No? Oh well, humor me anyways!

I do have to say I love it! It has been so nice to have all my crafting supplies in one room, organized! I have my own creative space and so far, I have gotten so much use out of it! Besides a beautiful walk-in closet, I always thought I would love to have a craft room in my house, now I do! I know it will be short lived as I hope to put a future child in there. But, for now, I'm going to be selfish and enjoy my own crafty space while I can!
