Love/Hate

Happy Friday everyone! I am so happy to see the sllllooooow week come to an end. Seriously, is it just me or did it drag on forever?

If you know me, then you would know that I hate snow. Seriously, I am all in favor of a GREEN Christmas! Santa's sleigh can just use wheels if it was up to me!

I hate being cold, which is most of the time even without snow. I hate shoveling, I hate cleaning snow off of my car, I hate snow. In fact, I'm not even that big of a fan of winter in general.

With all that said there is a part of me that is secretly hoping that Jack Frost will make his appearance soon because I'm tired!! Our work here at the farm is seasonal. So, as soon as winter has hit the hours become better and the work load is a lot less crazy! I guess that is my love hate relationship with snow! But shh....Don't tell my Dad I said that. I think he would seriously shoot me if I said I wanted it to snow. ha ha!

I am so looking forward to the weekend. Tonight I am having some lovely ladies (HI GIRLS!) over for a craft night. I can't wait to show you next week what we made!

It is taking every effort I can to not do any Christmas decorating yet. I am like a little kid when it comes to Christmas! I just love it!

In fact, I am actually almost done Christmas shopping. I would say I'm 90% done! Woo hoo! But I got to get my little craft butt in gear and start finishing some homemade gifts! Which, again I can't wait to show you either!

I hope everyone has a fabulous Friday and a relaxing weekend!

Funny Conversation...

Last night I was over at the stove finishing up making supper. I had this great craft idea in my head and was mentally taking note of the supplies that I needed....

Lindsay: Hunny, do you know if we have any sheet metal over at the shop?

Ryan: Why? What do you want to make now?

My man knows me so well...:-) ha ha!

Happy Thursday!

Cookie Porn

Yes, you did read that title right. I said cookie porn. So, sit back, and relax as I stimulate your taste buds with my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe.

Ingredients:

3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup of butter or margarine
1 egg
2 1/4 cups of flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of coarsely chopped nuts
(I always omit this because I don't like nuts in my cookies)
2 cups of semi sweet chocolate chips

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees.

2. Mix sugars, butter and egg in large bowl.

3. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt. (Your dough will be stiff)

4. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips.

Sit back and enjoy the beautiful dough....
Bow, chicka, wow wow.......

5. Roll dough into 1 inch balls and place onto ungreased cookie sheet.

6. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lighly brown. Centres will be soft and oh so gooey. Leave on pan until lightly cooled before removing.

7. Enjoy!

Dare #54

Happy Monday everyone!! It is so difficult to get out of bed now a days, it is so dark!! Plus, after such an action packed weekend I think I'll be drinking a second cup of coffee this morning.

Here is your dare this week:

Dare #54

Get your yard ready for winter! Trust me, if I don't put this as my dare this week, it will never get done!!

On my birthday, back in October, Ryan gave me an awesome birthday gift!! It was to spend a night in downtown Ottawa, being tourists in our own city. It was a great present idea and I couldn't wait to go!

Friday night Ryan went for an afternoon hunt so I got to tidying up the house and packed some bags, ready for Saturday morning!!

Saturday morning I couldn't wait to get up and get going. Ryan snuck down to the kitchen and whipped up some bacon and eggs for breakfast!

After loading the car and locking up the house we were finally ready to hit the road.

It is only an hour long drive to get to the city so we were there in no time. It was way too early to check in to our hotel room (which Ryan had planned anyways) so we hit up the mall! Again, I am spoiled rotten, Ryan bought me a couple of new shirts, new jacket and scarf. I love them all.

Since shopping is such hard work by the time lunch came I was starving! We went to The Heart and Crown for pub platters and chicken curry. The food was SOOO good and the restaurant is situated in a really old building right downtown.

With full belly's we headed to walk around the market. There are so many little neat shops and stands. We picked up a couple of Christmas gifts and then stopped for my favorite, a beavertail!!! Yum!

We continued our journey and walked around all of the tourist spots. The Rideau canal locks, Champlain statue, National Art Gallery, Peace monument, Colonel By monument, and the Parliament buildings!

It was a great morning/afternoon but we were ready to check into our room for some R/R before supper. Ryan had booked us a room at the Lord Elgin which is situated right downtown near all of the great spots!

Once we relaxed for a bit, changed for supper we walked to the market again for supper at The Keg. Yum!! We each had a delicious steak supper and fudge brownie for dessert!!

On our way back towards the hotel we decided to stop in at a pub to watch the rest of the hockey games. We enjoyed a couple of drinks and the rest of the hockey games. We were getting pretty sleepy so decided to head back to the hotel room. Well, we tried......

On our way back we noticed a familiar face working the door to one of the clubs. Conor and I were friends from high school and I was even his date to his graduation/prom! He invited us up and we enjoyed a couple shots (too many) and stayed the rest of the night catching up with him and enjoying ourselves.

It has been a LONG time since I have went out and let's just say my body did not appreciate those shots!! I was suffering the next morning but not enough to not enjoy the awesome breakfast buffet the hotel offered.

After breakfast we walked around Sparks street a little but then headed back to our hotel to check out and head home.

It was such a fun weekend planned by a great man!! He planned 100% of the trip so now I can cross off another item on my 101 list....

#92- Let Ryan organize a weekend vacation (every detail!) - Check!

Hope you all had a great weekend!!

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday everyone!! I am so glad to see this week come to an end! It is just so busy this time of year at work, being pulled in a million different directions!

Two nights ago while Ryan was out hunting I had a huge burst of energy and put away all of my fall/Halloween decorations before supper. Now, my house looks so empty! Bare spots that use to hold fun festive decorations. I am really itching to fill in those gaps again with Christmas decorations!!

Ryan and I will probably get to putting the Christmas lights on the house soon before it gets too cold. Even though we put them early the rule with us is, we don't plug them in till December 1st.

Ryan putting up the lights last year.

I'm away all day on the road for meetings but I wanted to quickly stop in to wish everyone a very happy Friday and hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Hunting season...

During hunting season if Ryan and I are going anywhere we have to take the back roads, just in case he might see a deer.

During hunting season we can't go anywhere without this thing.

During hunting season camo is part of Ryan's daily attire.

During hunting season I usually have the house, couch and T.V to myself......

Hunting season isn't so bad at all! :-)

Dare # 53

Welcome back Monday, welcome back work week! I hope you all had a wonderful Halloween weekend! I know I did, even though it lacked in sleep it was very eventful.

Here is your dare this week:

Dare #53

Make a Christmas list for yourself and others. Time to start thinking about the next upcoming Holiday, Christmas. Make a list of the people you buy for, what you want to get them and then a little list of things that you are in need of. Being organized helps make the holidays a little less stressful.

Halloween is my second favorite holiday so I was really looking forward to all the festivities that were to come.

Friday night Ryan and I had a date in the city. We were going to go out for supper but decided to pick up pizza and head home to watch a movie.

Through Zip.ca we received Knocked Up in the mail this week. It is a classic and one that neither of us have watched in a couple of years.

Saturday morning Ryan had to head into work so I slept in a bit. I made cookies in the morning and then worked on a couple of craft things that I have been meaning to get done. Ryan headed out after lunch to go to the hunt camp and I laid down for a nap. Once awake I got dressed, made supper and then headed to Quyon for the Halloween parade.

It was the first time that there was a Halloween parade in town and it was a lot spookier then I thought. It was fun to watch it with friends but I had to head home to get ready for a BIG night at work.

I changed into my costume and headed to work at the bar early to prepare for a very busy shift!

Let's just say the bar was CRAZY and I always have a hard time dealing with a big crowd that is getting mad at you for not serving fast enough. It was fun seeing all the costumes people had on though.

The Pirate, Elmo and Cookie Monster ready for work.

After I long shift I got home at about 3:00 AM and snuggled into bed about 30 minutes later. I could not settle my brain down and so when Ryan's alarm went off at 4:30 AM for work I decided to go with him. Good idea? No!

Sunday morning we drove into work and I was fine until about 7. Then everything went down hill. I would literally be standing outside somewhere and fall asleep standing up. I was not making sense when I talked and the whole world was hazy. I felt drunk.

When work was finally over Ry and I headed home and carved our pumpkin.
It turned out good and when Ryan left for an afternoon hunt I went straight for the couch and fell asleep for 4 hours...it was heavenly!!!

Notice tired eyes coming from the one on the right?

By the time I woke up it was time for supper and waiting for Trick-O- Treaters!!! Maddy was my first official recipient, she was the cutest little Minnie Mouse.

Isn't her tutu the cutest, her mommy, Stacy (Hi Stace!) made it herself!!

We had 19 little trick-o-treaters which was perfect because I had only made up 20 bags! Ryan wasn't very happy because we didn't have much candy left over for him, ha ah! Overall, a SPOOKTACULAR Halloween weekend!

How was your weekend?
