I (and therefore Ryan too) am going through another major renovation project! The old sticky, gross, ugly basement is (hopefully) going to be something of beauty!
In order to get started on this project I need to start going through all of my old things in there! It was a pretty easy process since most of the stuff had water damage.
It was kind of fun though! Mom had kept ALL of my old toys! Dolls, trucks, barbies, puzzles and games! I almost took out all my barbies again for old times sake and changed their little outfits.
O.K...I'm lying about that last part, I TOTALLY did take them out to the floor and play with them for a few moments. But don't worry, I didn't have any fun....O.k I'm lying again....
Here is a little keepsake that brings back LOTS of memories.
I called her Penny. She is one of my "bus friends". What is a bus friend you ask? Well, when I was little I got a little fisher price school bus like this one....
Through out the years I collected little people and would play school with them! It was my favorite pass time!
Another one of my favorite pass times....Barbies!
However, this just wasn't like any ol' barbie playing! This was work because I had to make sure I practised my future occupation of being a hair/makeup stylist!
Every Barbie deserved a beautiful makeover by one of the best stylists ever, me! I found one of these barbies the other night and I couldn't help but laugh at how "fashion forward" I was even as a little girl.
Exhibit A:
The Mohawk. My "fashionista" instincts told me to give me Barbie a beautiful Mohawk, knowing even at age 5 that it was going to be a new trend!
Punk Rock Barbie!
Exhibit B:
Tanning! Lindsay Lohan and Jersey Shore cast alike have embraced this new "orange skin" trend! Little did they know that this future hairstylist/makeup artist was WAY ahead of them and practising these techniques on my Barbie, with orange highlighter!
Guidette Barbie!
Although my dreams of being a stylist have since turned into being a farm girl I hope to one day pass on my Barbie styling techniques to generations of young girls! :-) Or not!
What was your favorite game/toy to play as a kid?
Happy Friday!
xo
OMG - I dont know if I would have paid you to be my hairstylist HAHA - but I totally get it. How cool was it to cut Barbie's hair? I think everyone had a barbie or two that ended up being bald! I remember being younger and someone cutting off one of the New Kids on the Block barbie dolls rat tail...who is that one again?
ReplyDeleteHAHA! Oh my god! So what are you going to call the ones that we colored with permanent markers? The emo-punky group?? :) Did you still have your Barbie car??
ReplyDeletehahaha... that's so funny :). I played with Barbies & Tractors/cars.
ReplyDeleteHysterically funny! My Mom raised 4 of us alone so we had no money for a Barbie, I have never had one! I had been given a Skipper and used to sew little clothes for her. I don't remember toys except marbles, but I had a lot of fun playing outside making forts and pretending an old oil barrel was a horse. How pathetic is that! I had a good time with no money!

With havin so much content do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or
ReplyDeletecopyright infringement? My site has a lot of completely unique
content I've either authored myself or outsourced but it appears a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my permission. Do you know any solutions to help protect against content from being ripped off? I'd
genuinely appreciate it.
