Special Mother’s Day Weekend!

Happy Monday everyone! I have to say that I feel rejuvenated after a wonderful weekend with my boys! My heart feels full as I begin the week.

Friday night Ryan and I had the afternoon off so that we could take Sam a check up with his neurologist. We got some FANTASTIC news! As long as everything keeps going in this direction, he won’t need to see Sam anymore! Woo Hoo!

We beat traffic and got home in great time. We hung out and then I got ready for Ladies Night, a fundraiser in the next town! It was a great time visiting, eating, and watching the impersonator.

Saturday morning it was my turn to work. I had a quiet morning at work which allowed me to get some paperwork done. Thankfully, the dreary morning cleared up to sunny skies and I got to hang out with Sam before his afternoon nap. We went into the field behind out home and threw the ball for Tucker.

0127de91337c2c95712a01699bec4925c390a37e42

It started getting cold and cloudy again. But we got to work at setting everything up and cleaning everything in the pool! We had the pool opened last Wednesday and we can’t wait for it to be ready so we can take Sam for his first swim of 2015.

It had started to rain JUST as Ryan got the BBQ set up for our supper. I set our places in the sunroom so we could listen/watch the rain during supper.

Ryan got soaked making our meal but it was SO worth it! I have missed BBQ season! There seems to be less dishes and the house doesn’t warm up from the stove! We had sweet potatoes, asparagus, salmon and steak. Yum!

Sam was a complete goof after supper on Saturday! He was giggling and playing without taking a moment to breath! He wanted so bad to sit on his little rocking chair just like Ryan and I were doing. It was hilarious watching him try to “rock”.

01077ddf269e42e9b6ecfdf1c07b0a7a19cda2bedd

Some days I feel like a personal jungle gym for Sam to crawl all over. But he was laughing and giggling so much that I can’t help but feel blessed. I cherished this sweet moments before he went to bed!

0173b912cc125820635856fa657f1d91e222c82355

Sunday was Mothers day and I got spoiled by my boys! Last year Sam was just a little over a month old and this year I got a little boy who spent his day giving me kisses. Ryan really went above and beyond this year. Taking Sam duty, making all the meals, and just going with the flow as to what I wanted to do for the day.

014887290b302af87920ef24ce1cb30c7684eb3798

We headed to church that morning where Ryan took Sam down to Sunday School so I could sit and enjoy the sermon. Sam was a goof before Sunday school! Waving and giggling at his friends across the way. I got some sweet Mother’s Day surprises from Sunday School and a new flower for one of my pots from Rev. Best!

It was a cold and yucky day but I was glad. I got to do what I love most, nothing! We watched Netflix, I read, and even took a little nap. It was heaven! Ryan BBQ us another supper and we relaxed together and played. My heart was so full and my boys made me feel so loved and appreciated!

I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend as well.

Most Of The Weekend I Can’t Tell You About

Wow! My weekend flew by, too quickly! To me, this was the first weekend that felt like SUMMER! There was lots of time spent outside, enjoying the beautiful weather and each other.

Ryan, Sam and I had big plans on Saturday. Ryan and I would be going on our FIRST real date where Sam would be with staying with someone all day and overnight. It only took 13 months! Ha ha! But because I knew that Sam and I would be apart all Saturday, I wanted to get in a little extra play time on Friday afternoon/night.

I had made the pizza the night before and just threw it in the oven while I Sam and I played in the living room. I didn’t even bother changing out of my work clothes.

0109bd7cbb81329960776d39d8052fe88cd6418c3d

We ate our pizza (Sam ate 1.5 slices all to himself, geesh!) and the headed outside to enjoy the last of the beautiful evening before we put Sam to bed.

Friends Amanda and Josh got Sam this little car for his first birthday and he is OBSESSED! He can open the door and climb right in all by himself! He then stays in the car and “drives” for a long time. It is such a battle to get him out! ha ha

0168fc851a6deb116d738f9e53126f96556907ec4f

After Sam went down to bed I started packing! I got everything set out and ready for the next morning. Before bed Ryan and I started a new TV series on Netflix, Breaking Bad. We aren’t sure if we like it or not yet.

Saturday morning we dropped Sam and all his stuff off at Ryan’s parents. We got him settled and then hit the road to do our May date. For most of the drive to our first location I cried. Please tell me that the Mommy guilt eventually goes away? I felt this overwhelming guilt almost all day. I drop Sam off at daycare Monday to Friday and only get about 1 and half hours with him each night. The weekends are suppose to be the days that I get the extended time with him and one of those days I was dropping him off and spending the day and night away from him. I felt awful.

Eventually, our date took my mind off of it. I know Sam was having an amazing time with his grandparents and Ryan and I had a great time too. This date was WAY overdue.

01a6f48e32ba8b959eeb0982d6b7afcf780ee24f79

Sunday morning Ryan had plans so I went and picked up Sam and then we headed to church. Sam had a great time down in Sunday school watching his buddies and clapping away to songs.

We got home, had a quick lunch and the Sam went down for a nap and I got to work on some meal prep and garden work. I guess I was ahead of schedule because I eventually got to spend about 30 minutes rocking on the front porch reading a book. It is my definition of paradise.

016ff25321072772cf2abadabc509783669b68b603

Sam eventually woke up and we played, ate supper and got ready for a big week ahead!

A Germy Weekend!

Happy Monday everyone! I hope that you had a fantastic weekend! Mother Nature has finally caught on around these parts and it was beautiful here yesterday! Flip flop weather! Please excuse me while I don’t wear any socks starting yesterday and until the first snowflake flies!

Not going to lie, it was a hard weekend in Mommyland. I was SO excited to spend the weekend with Sam. Ryan was still gone (until Sunday) and after only seeing Sam for 1.5 hours every night, I couldn’t wait for some extended quality time.

The quality time I got. But it wasn’t very fun! Sam was sick all weekend long. Up multiple times at night, crying for hours during the day and not wanting to be anywhere else except for in my arms. I know he is surrounded by germs at Daycare and this is our life but I was just SO looking forward to a fun weekend.

I did get some take out dropped off from my parents on Friday night. Which I enjoyed while sipping wine and watching the latest episodes of Downton Abbey on Netflix!

01b2a361375bba8363c04dd2732ae0c3634a9d148c

But that night was awful. Sam and I both hardly got any sleep! He woke up but didn’t want to leave my arms. Not even to eat. You know my son is sick when he doesn’t want food.

0133ac7b29f6859a80cc78d0fce1563bf9e07ece9f

I gave Sam a dose of Mortin, which helped for a while. The good thing about Sam being sick this weekend? The Masters were on so we always had something to watch! Sam perked up a bit right before lunch on Saturday so I got a picture with him and Tiger.

018d43cc8aa01680467103c2fbc379164b5e26e78e

My Dad was in and out of the house getting some measurements for a new shelf that he was making me! I was looking for some storage to use for Sam’s Daycare bag. I hated it lying around the house. I gave my Dad my idea and he ran with it. When he delivered my shelf it was PERFECT! I love it! We hung it a little on the low side so that Sam could eventually reach it himself when he gets a little older! My favourite part? The wood is from barns on our farm.

01ebcab2c04630b79deb8bf4c25d74d8d31eea7fff

Oh! And after listening to a local radio station go on and on about grilled cheese sandwiches the other day, I couldn’t shake the craving and made them for supper!

01e6678a160ed10189d0451e53e100c320245a17ca

After another rough night, Sam was still not himself on Sunday morning.

01081340adca703d80603e14b565200545a8159eaf

Before church my parents came over so that I could have a coffee and have 10 minutes without Sam in my arms. I was happy for the little bit of relief! After being without Ryan for 1 week, and dealing with a sick baby, this Momma just needed 5 minutes to drink a coffee in a little peace. Sam always enjoys snuggles with his Grandpa.

0133267da89c293963b76f33e6a56e826faf72cc10

Ya, I know…I’m a lucky girl! My parents live about 30 seconds away from me and are always here in about 35 seconds if I need them. With Ryan being away, knowing that they are so close makes me feel so much more at ease.

They went off to church and Sam and I hung around. For the most part, I tried to make him as comfortable as possible but he would cry for hours at a time. My poor boy! I would have done anything to take away whatever was ailing him.

015a1c3b5a0b96fd271cefc71b3a4e6660171d2360

Finally, shortly after lunch, Ryan walked in the door after being away for a week in Myrtle Beach to go golfing! I was very excited to see him and Sam did not want Ryan to leave his side for the rest of the afternoon. He would play and then go over and lay his head on Ryan over and over again.

For supper we got our first chipstand taste of 2015! And set up our dinners in the living room so we could watch the final holes of The Masters Tournament!

01f3153c564722b3b890c75e92b14d8d1c989b16cb

Here’s hoping that Sam wakes up feeling 100% better this morning! Even though the weekend didn’t turn out like I had planned, I’m still glad that I was able to spend all of it with Sam doing what a Mom does best, being a comfort to her baby when they aren’t feeling good.

We’ve Been Everywhere, Man

Happy Monday! Wow. Is it bad when a weekend is so busy that you are kind of looking forward to the normalcy that comes with Monday? I think our whole family was exhausted last night as we went to bed.

Friday I picked up my boy early from daycare (no issues, just our schedule right now) and headed home to do some puttering around the house. Ryan had the afternoon off to go play hockey and I was pleasantly surprised to see him home to have supper with us!

Sam was being very helpful when I was unloading the dishwasher!

011dbeb1b2c3b9080509fc75c2218bbf16f27f3a60

Sam was pretty tired after an almost full day at Daycare. He isn’t use to the early morning wake up calls yet. We decided to do his bedtime routine a little earlier to help our little guy out!

01eee75cfa0d0d09d368f9f1ee803ff4dd93f27184

When Sam went to bed, Ryan and I settled in for a movie night! After 3 choices of his, it was my turn to pick a movie! We watched Tyler Perry’s Temptation.

Saturday morning we were all up early and got ready for our day. While I was getting ready Ryan made us breakfast sandwiches! I’m not use to him being home so much during the Flying Elbows Tournament but I’m not complaining! The extra set of hands was nice!

In the morning we ran to Shawville to check out the curling tournament and hockey tournament. Make an appearance and support both! But we flew home to give Sam lunch and put him down for his nap at his normal time. We are trying to stick to the Daycare’s schedule as much as possible.

Unfortunately, during Sam’s afternoon nap on Saturday, it was also a birthday party next door for Faith and Clark, my niece and nephew. Ryan stayed at home with Sam and I went to the party for a couple of hours. After the presents were opened I rushed home so he could head to the hockey rink again to help out.

01c1630635edac14f271ae183847edc7a13133b47f

Sam woke up about 1 later in a great mood! For a while I was feeling like he was mad at me. He always wanted his Daddy because I think he was associated me with leaving him. There’s something that I love about a little boy in overall’s and I loved watching him play with his Uncle Jared’s old Tonka forklift. He LOVES this thing. Anything he can push around with wheels. Tucker in the background, never too far from us.

010fe4015db02eaf5b613754b3aeb9ff8732f7b673

After Sam went to bed I had the whole house to myself! I practiced piano, did a facemask and then watched a chick flick on Netflix! I settled into bed pretty early knowing that Sunday was going to be a busy day!

We were all up at our usual time but on this particular Sunday there was no lazing around. We had breakfast, got dressed and then hit the road for Greely, Ontario! Social media can be an amazing place. It was through a Canadian April 2014 mommy group that I met these Ottawa ladies (1 missing) and their families. We have talked in the middle of the night, during sick times and many happy times. We’ve shared so much with each other and are now like family.

On Sunday Sam and I attended the dedication of our ABC (April birth club) cousin and then celebrated his 1st birthday. Between the three babies, there is only 3 weeks in age difference.

01ce45a5e0af161a8a7c776d21add9af86400bb266

On our way home after a fun party, I got a text from Ryan saying that they had won their 1 PM game and would be in the finals. Really, I didn’t want to go but I knew how much it would mean to Ryan to have Sam and I there. So, I quickly ran into the house to grab milk and snacks and continued driving to Shawville. We didn’t stay for the whole game but Ryan enjoyed taking Sam into the dressing room to show him off to all his team mates. Unfortunately, Ryan’s team lost 3-2.

To say we were a little tired Sunday would be an understatement! Our boy was a trooper and thankfully we still stayed pretty consistent with his nap and meal times. We had such a great weekend together!

“Hands Up” and My New Favourite Jeans!

Happy Monday everyone! I hope that you all had an awesome weekend! In our household, we had a great weekend. Although, it was difficult to keep Sam happy as his top two teeth are popping through! I hope they break that last little layer soon and he gets some relief.

The weekend started out on Friday by Ryan and I doing our March date. He later had to go to the city for work because of the snow we were getting.

Saturday morning we were all up, breakfast eaten and then hitting the road. Ryan had a couple of errands to run in the city and Sam and I joined him. We stopped in at Wild Wings for lunch and Sam was being a big flirt with the waitress. She was loving him too and brought him a special plate of fries just for him! Ha ha!

011afb4ad00d828020d2185687eacffb142eb3aa2b

I couldn’t resist these new shades for Sam as the ones from last summer no longer fit him. I actually scored them for FREE! Sam thought he was pretty cool stuff!

01a57566c64929226d76f0d55938272c0b822864c6

We eventually got home and Sam went down for his afternoon nap. Ryan wanted to go work on his truck in the shop. Here I thought it was just a small thing but he worked on his truck from 1 pm – 10 pm….Momma wasn’t happy!

But, once Sam woke up from his nap we had supper and played! He was in such a silly mood! Over the weekend he has learnt to throw his hands up in the air when I sing “Hands Up”. It was his favourite thing to do this weekend.

01a0a6be7b504ee117d377e88feee925861f81d244

Sunday we were all up. Sam and I got ready for church and Ryan decided last minute that he was going to go for “one last” sledding trip with friends. I told him it better be the last trip, cuz’ his going out quota is UP!

I wore my new jeans on Sunday and I HAVE to tell you all about them. They are SO comfortable, they aren’t low rise (let’s face it, after baby, low rise just doesn’t work!), stretch, hug the curves in all the right places and only cost $29! They are like magic jeans! Where are they from? WAL-MART! I never thought I would love a pair of jeans from Wal-mart but these are perfect. Not only can you pick your waist size but also the length which I need for my long legs! I can go on and on about these jeans but they are seriously amazing! Check them out here! (No endorsements here I just seriously love them! Although if Wal-mart wanted to give me a few free pairs, I wouldn’t object! Ha ha!)

01efdde4dad57b7ee2fd982962d75389d161611f9a

Church was a little difficult because Sam was in a bad mood but we got through it and it was lunch time when we got home! I made Pita pizza’s for both of us!

014c7e0a51fbe84094807b9b08be7d614209d769b5

Again, more “hands up” before nap! Smile

01fcf2493f6aba4e6d8c9262dd258cb0823fc84368

Sam had a great nap and I got a lot of things done to prepare me for the week! 3 loads of laundry, 1 pot of soup, 2 suppers, treats for Sam’s birthday and office work! Sam was in a much better mood when he woke up and had some snuggles with Tucker while watching some Bubble Guppies.

015398bf183724af29dde82ab222fd79f58a10d0b4

I was preparing supper for Sam and I when from the kitchen I heard this funny noise. I come around the corner to see my boy like this! He has discovered the central vacuum plug in and continued to play with it for the rest of the night! Today, it’s getting taped up! ha ha!

01a9f323be314d2fc3f8928d919157a7a98da0f36d

Ryan eventually got home just as Sam was going down to bed but got to read him his story while I cleaned up. Unfortunately, just as I was getting ready for bed (at 7:30 pm) he was getting dressed to go to work. Boo! Hoping for no more snow so that there will be no more night shifts!

Now that Sam has started day care, I find myself soaking up the weekend moments where he is with me 24/7. I’m sure that changes eventually but for now, I just want to spend the weekends with Sam.

Today, we are on week 2 of Sam in daycare and what a difference a week makes! No tears or anxious feelings today. The routine is starting to be second nature.

A Little Weekend Fun For Mommy

Happy Monday everyone! Where has the weekend gone? I’ll be getting in extra snuggles with my boy this week. Staying home and soaking up these last carefree days. We are going to stay in our PJ’s a little longer, go on nice walks randomly throughout the day and PLAY our hearts out! Because a week from today, Sam begins daycare. But I don’t think I’m ready to talk about that right now so let me tell you all that happened this weekend!

Friday night was pretty low key! We had our traditional Pizza and Movie night in Beechgrove! We settled down for a little Netflix with some microwave cookies!

01f333f21c283033375f63cc6585bb9f3e2141ebc2

Saturday morning I was up early with Sam and let Ryan rest for a while. I got ready eventually and hit the road. A girlfriend and I (I actually met her through an online Mommy group for Canadian Mom’s) were complaining about how much our men have been snowmobiling lately. So, we decided to start the Lonely Wives Club and Saturday was our first “meeting”! ha ha!

I hit the road a little earlier to do a couple of stops. One being Starbucks! I wanted a refreshing drink to sip on. I have found a new favourite! Peach flavoured Ice tea lemonade! YUM! And yes, I always do give Sam’s name. I figure the would appreciate the only 3 letter name!

01b5463bed4b17e2574036313198d5b05f55c46fae

I was gifted a Starbucks gift card for Christmas so I could buy a new travel mug. I had yet to use it but knew that I wanted a good coffee mug for my travels to and from daycare with Sam! I use to sip my coffee in the office but will now be doing that on the highway. I opted for a stainless steel one that surely I can’t break.

01f0e971be023f4784339441097146dae2a32dd48b

My next stop was Old Navy. The agenda, shopping just for me! No kids stuff. It was a little difficult but I found some really cute pieces for this spring! They were having a great sale where their clearance stuff was an additional 30% off! I got 5 items (the polka dot pixie pants included!) for only $52. I can’t even remember the last time I was in a changing room by myself, trying on clothes! It was a real treat!

I met my friend for lunch at Mangolian Village and then headed next door to get a pedicure! We had a great time chatting while getting some pretty toes! I chose a vibrant pink color because getting some Spring clothes (plus it was beautiful outside that day) put me in the mood for a fun color!

01fc6554d3e7e0d0480eccdf94670c358c1a593bb2

We then headed over to the movie theatre to catch a new Will Smith movie, Focus. It was really good!

I am still finding it so hard to leave home without my boys. The thing is, I actually enjoy spending time with them! But, it is good for my soul to get a little time to myself. I’m not going to lie though, I LOVE it when Ryan would send me picture updates about their day!

01f8e1e98573a33ab06ae22018d8fded73f2b6b40c

0176e089e6840d59377f2d193ba6d319baaca89a2c

When I got home I made supper and had some awesome playtime with Sam. I love that he gets excited to see me. Almost as though he missed me. He didn’t want to leave my side for the rest of the night!

0144c30bf395f52f38bf56b7be2e3ec7b74cb48b54

Sunday morning we were all up and getting ready for our day! Ryan headed off to his last hockey game of the season and Sam and I got ready for church! I LOVED his little outfit that he got to wear. It’s a long sleeve shirt and pant onsie! It was like wearing PJ’s and he had fun adventuring around in them.

0119386d1fe1a653f9a7b6638fedf23267e4c3028e

Including climbing the stairs! His new thing is climbing the stairs so I now have to put a baby gate at the stairs going up to the bedrooms!

0147e1aeaae4123cc0e0b08e59e8f31c6d5f4a74de

After church Sam, my dad and I met Ryan in Shawville for brunch! We headed home and Sam went down for his nap, Ryan left to go pick up his new glasses and I settled down in front of the TV with a little craft. I am starting to collect “birthday” decorations and have always wanted to make this. I grabbed an unused foam wreath, balloons and a hot glue gun! I just have to add a “Happy Birthday” banner and this wreath is all done for Sam’s birthday!

01076277064b59dc6a968403c52768b5d8ed9689cc

Ryan got home and Sam was just awake from his nap. Sam knew something was different about his daddy and kept staring at him! New glasses!

017af57d47012ca4dfc2a757f42236fb820616a92d

Well I can honestly say it was an awesome weekend! I got to have a little solo time but also spend time with my new handsome men! The weather started taking a turn to being a little bit warmer. The daylight savings time change doesn’t seem to have effected Sam at all (thank goodness!), and we are looking forward to Spring days ahead.
