Lots To Celebrate!

Happy Monday everyone! I seriously have to wonder where the weekend went. It went by that fast because it was so full of fun activities! I love summer!!! There is always so much to do!

Friday afternoon, after work, Ryan and I headed home to start getting ready for a nice supper out! We were celebrating Ryan’s loan finally being paid off!

Of course any opportunity for me to dress up and go out for a nice dinner is great! I’ve been eyeing this new/old dress sitting in my closet. I had recently bought it from Aly who was selling some items from her own closet! I absolutely love the comfy material! It was so comfy, especially after a big and yummy meal! The clutch was a score I got from Zellers last winter for $5 on clearance!

Ryan wanted me to photograph his outfit too! ha ha!

calypso weekend 3

Saturday morning we were up with the birds! I had to pack a picnic and get ready for a day of fun! We were picking up Caleb and Aleisha (our niece and nephew) and heading to Calypso water park!

calypso

We made an agreement with the kids back in the early spring that if they both passed their school year we would take them to Calypso. Both kids passed and we were more then excited to celebrate with them! To say they were excited would be an understatement too! ha ha!

calypso weekend 4

This water park is amazing! It’s huge and there was so much to do! Between all the slides, the pirates bucket of water and the giant wave pool. We had so much fun together celebrating! It was a long day in the sun and we were all pretty zonked!

One thing I did learn that I forgot to do during the day being that it was so cloudy was apply sunscreen. I’m still hurting this morning! Ouch!

calypso weekend 2

Sunday morning Ryan had to work so I headed to church with Mom. After a great service I snapped a quick picture of the Sunday school kids with their fish they “caught” in Sunday school!

calypso weekend

After a bite of breakfast with my parents I got home and got ready to head to the movies! Jill and I headed down to the theatre and met Ryan there after work!

the dark knight

We were going to see The Dark Knight Rises! And let me say, it was SOO good. I’m not the kind of person like usually likes action movies. Give me a good romance instead! But this movie was so good and went by in a blink! Highly recommended!

The dark knight rises

It was a very full weekend! I kind of feel like I need another day to recover from all the fun! But of course it’s back to work and waiting for another fun weekend to arrive!

How was your weekend?

Friday Highlights!

Happy Friday everyone! I don’t know about you, but this week has been exceptionally good! So good in fact, that I wanted to share it all with you!

- Wednesday night I went out for dinner with these lovely ladies!

easter 4

- This dinner was held at The Prior. I haven’t been there for probably over a year! Do you know what The Prior has? Deep fried dill pickles! One of my favorites! Yum!

- As it is a tradition, we stopped at Dairy Queen for chocolate chip cones after supper! Yum!

- Thursday I was on the road visiting clients. The day went by SO quickly cuz it was filled with lots of stops! I love it when you blink and the day is over.

- As I had plans in the city for supper I had some time to kill. I decided to head to the St.Laurant centre. I stopped into a nail place thinking they would never have space. Low and behold they did and took me right away! For an hour I sat in a massage chair and got a pedicure. Heaven!

Pedicure

- That night for supper I picked up my lovely cousin/friend and we headed to one of my favorite places, Lonestar! It was an amazing visit and I can’t wait till the next time!

shannon and I

- This week I’ve been a little cruel. Ever see the Cat Facts prank? If not, here it is. I thought that it would be hilarious to do this to Ryan and Pat. It was so funny! They both thought I had signed them up for this Cat Facts and didn’t know it was me typing it! I pretty much laughed hysterically for 10 minutes straight each time! AWESOME!

cat fact

- I broke down the other day and bought…wait for it…

Romper

A Romper! I don’t know what the hell I was thinking but seriously, when I tried it on, it was like wearing PJ’s. So comfy and dare I say, cute? It was on sale for like nothing so I decided to buy it. I figure I’ll never wear it in public but I will definitely be strutting around in it at home!

Those are some highlights from my week. What about yours?

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Guys Getting Ready

Happy Wednesday everyone! For some reason I find the week is flying by like crazy! I have some fun things to look forward to at the end of the week and the weekend and I just can’t wait for them to get here!

On the wedding day, as us girls were getting beautified early in the morning all the men gathered at the golf course for breakfast and a round of golf. I swear if I had heard about the men going golfing on the morning of the wedding one more time I was going to scream! It was all they talked about!

After a quick round of golf it was back to the farm to the long check list I had left for the men.

Don’t worry the check list wasn’t too bad. It mostly consisted of things like, put ice on drinks, unlock doors and put out direction signs.

Their last item on their list? Shower and get dressed! Once they were dressed and ready it was time to relax and get some pictures taken before the wedding. Enjoy!

One of my favorite pictures of my handsome groom!

Such good country boys! The only problem with this picture is that it should be a Ford.

My husband is very tall as you can tell by this picture! ha ha

I love that about him! It doesn’t matter how high of heels I might wear, he is ALWAYS taller then me!

A Golfing Kind Of Weekend

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend!

My weekend started out with a highly anticipated event, the company golf tournament. Every year at the end of July all of the great employees from the farm load up a bus for an afternoon/evening of music, great good, prizes and golf!

MVT tournament 007

Friday afternoon, after a quick bus ride we all got ready to head out onto the course!

mvt golf tournament 8

mvt golf tournament 7

mvt golf tournament 9

This was my team! Dustin, Cowan and myself! We had a great time chatting with the teams around us and playing a good round of golf!

mvt golf tournament 6

I am usually not the biggest fan of golf because I am just not that good at it. On Friday, I played the game of my life! Never before have a shot a ball and have it land on the green! I even won a prize for being closest to the pin! It was pretty exciting!

mvt golf tournament 5

Yes my balls name was Joe!

After we were all done our round of golf we headed back to the clubhouse for some cocktails, a steak dinner and music!

mvt golf tournament 4

The afternoon/night went by in a blink! It was so much fun to have a Friday afternoon off to spend with great people!

Saturday was a busy day around home. It was all about puttering around. Between getting new pictures hung, laundry, organizing (YAY!) and weeding the vegetable garden! The garden is at a fun stage right now because every time you go out there seems to be something new growing!

We have some great Romaine lettuce that is ready for the picking so we made ourselves a fresh chicken Caesar salad! Yum!

caesar salad

Being that I played such a good game of golf on Friday I was feeling pretty professional (ha!). So, I agreed to join Ryan on the golf course in Norway Bay on Sunday.

mvt golf tournament 2

Although it was fun it sure did take the wind out of my sails. Back to being the awful player that I am! Ha! :-)

mvt golf tournament 3

That afternoon I volunteered at a music festival up the road from the Norway Bay golf course. It was a fun hour of AMAZING music put on by one of our (Ryan and I) friends, Phil. There were so many kids out at the Under The Pines Music Festival to listen to barn themed music! Such an amazing event in our own neck of the woods.

mvt golf tournament 1

As you can imagine I pretty much got my fill of golf for one season! But it was still a super fun weekend out in the fresh air!

How was your weekend?

When My Man’s Away…

I secretly enjoy it!

Ok, I know…I’ve only been married for a little over 2 months and I’m already enjoying being apart from my
husband?

Yes, I am!

One of the best things about being married is being able to start and finish your days with your best friend. There is no body in this world that
understands me like Ryan does.

He knows my moods and what makes me tick.

Last week we had a little irrigation emergency on the farm. This required Ryan to pack up his bags on Friday afternoon and drive for 7 hours to pick up a replacement part.

This meant that we would be spending the night apart for the first time since we had gotten married and I hate to admit it but….

I was looking forward to it.

I had visions of a nice quiet night at home doing whatever I felt like. Going for a swim, organizing my closet, watching the girliest of girly shows, sleeping in our king size bed alone (GLORIOUS!) and making something I like to eat that I know he doesn’t.

Like this:

cookie in microwave

One thing that my dear husband and I can’t agree on is dessert. The man WILL NOT eat dessert unless it’s Jello.

I on the other hand, LOVE dessert. It brings me such
joy.
We’ve had battles over dessert because I just can’t understand how a human being only eats Jello as a
dessert!
That’s why last Friday when he was away I made DESSERT for SUPPER! And I laughed in the face of all that Jello sitting in my cupboard!

I pinned this microwave cookie recipe a while ago and knew I just had to make it.

Luckily, the ingredients are stuff you pretty much have on hand.

cookie 8

- 1 tbsp. butter, melted
- 1 tbsp. white sugar
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 3 drops of vanilla
- pinch of salt
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/4 cup flour
- 2 tbsp. chocolate chips

The recipe reads:

1. In a bowl mix your melted butter, sugars and vanilla and egg yolk.

cookie 7
2. Add in flour and salt. Mix until combined.

cookie 6

3. Add in chocolate chips.

4. Place dough into a small microwave bowl, ramekin, or cup.

Lindsay step: Good what a ramekin is and realize
you have one of those!
cookie

5. Microwave for 40-60 seconds or until the cookie looks done.

cookie 2
cookie 3

Holy simple supper dessert. After I was done microwaving I grabbed a big glass of milk, sat down with a little Say Yes To The Dress and dug in!

cookie 4

Yup, it’s pretty much as amazing as it looks! Pinterest success!

cookie 5

It really was the cherry on top of my perfect alone time evening!

Happy Friday!

Wedding Rehearsal

Happy Wednesday everyone! I’m happy to say that your prayers worked and yesterday we did get some rain! It was like pennies from heaven. The heat is so bad around these parts that our house is sweltering so we’ve been hibernating in our cool basement. It’s kind of like camping out in our own home.

As my brother was taking some company pictures with his camera yesterday, he discovered some long lost rehearsal pictures! I couldn’t let a post past without creating some memory of this fun night.

Being that our wedding was on Saturday, we wanted to rehearsal to be the week of but not the day before. Knowing that we had possession of the hall on Thursday I thought Wednesday would be one of the quietest days to have it. Not to mention it worked out perfectly with both ministers.

Everyone gathered at our family church for the rehearsal on Wednesday, May 9th at 6 PM.

After all the introductions it was time to get the show started. There was a bit of confusion as far as getting started, organizing music timing and how the ceremony was to take place.

 IMG_9015

After all the details were worked out it was REALLY time to try out walking down the aisle.

 IMG_9019

IMG_9022

Faith just kept saying “I so excited!”

 IMG_9029

When it was mine and dad’s time I started to get butterflies. It felt a little real at that point.

IMG_9033

We ran through the ceremony which was a breeze! My wonderful student minister, Nancy had everything all ready to practice.

 IMG_9045

We also practiced signing the registries.

IMG_9050

Then, we did it all over again. Well, not the ceremony part but the entrance was a little shaky and confusing still so a second time was needed.

After the rehearsal everyone headed to my parent’s house for a casual evening with included drinks, BBQ supper and presenting everyone with their gifts.

The rehearsal was really one aspect of the wedding that I never really stressed or obsessed about planning. My idea was to run it through and then have a casual get together. Exactly what happened.

What I didn’t expect was how I would feel during the rehearsal. I felt a tab bit stressed (during unorganized moments) and full of butterflies.

IMG_9051

I kind of secretly worried that practicing through the ceremony would take away some of the romance of the day.

In reality, it’s not the case at all. Although you do the same thing all over again on your wedding day it is a completely different feeling. The rehearsal is there so that there is no stress on the wedding day and you know what to expect!

Happy Wednesday!
