Happy Friday everyone! Although I don’t have as many activities planned for the weekend, I am still looking forward to a little down time.
I don’t know if it’s because I’ve gotten married or that now I have been organizing all of our wedding presents in the house but seriously, I have a BAD case of nesting!
Lately, I’ve been dreaming about putting in and decorating a spare bedroom, finishing the laundry room, and re-doing the sunroom! I have a serious itch and I want to get my little nest all homey and finished.
I told Ryan this the other day and he told me to get over it. But I’m having such a hard time! I’m dying to decorate or renovate something!
So, to prove to my husband that I’m giving it the ol’ college try of “getting over it”, I thought I would share with you a complete house project of the past, the master bedroom.
The master bedroom is most definitely the biggest room in the house. When my parents put the addition on the house they most definitely made sure to make themselves a nice big room! For that, I am sooo thankful!
The walk in closet was the first thing that I wanted to complete as a new home owner. The second thing, the master bedroom!
I have some fond memories of being a kid and running and playing in my parents nice big room! Thank you Mom and Dad for having such a big master bedroom but I curse you for the bird basket wall paper!
Yes, bird basket wallpaper! How is that EVER in style!?!?!
It took over 2 days just to remove the wallpaper. Any one who knows my grandpa Hamilton and now my dad knows that these men put things up once. With the intention of it NEVER coming down! Yikes! Luckily, when it was down and furniture was removed, it was like a blank canvas.
With all the wallpaper removed, it was time to strip the carpet and put in the hard wood floors the same as the rest of the house.
I painted all the natural wood trim (yuck!) and doors white. The walls were painted “wheat field”. I made my second biggest and first furniture purchase ever…my bedroom set! I felt like such a grown up! My very own king size bed, side tables and dressers!
The rest of the decorations have been just trickling in slowly over the last 3 years and although the room still doesn’t feel finished, it’s getting there.
Here are the before and after pictures.
After – New wall, door and walk in closet! Plus a t.v! Woo hoo!
It honestly felt like a HUGE accomplishment to be able to redo my parents master bedroom as my own. Although it doesn’t feel finished yet, it still feels like my little retreat. Where I go to kick back after a long day to read, relax or watch t.v. Not to mention my sleeping spot and where I lay when I’m sick. Such a multipurpose room!
Hope you have a fantastic weekend!
