Happy Monday everyone! Remember all that packing that I was doing the weekend before? Well it was for my last work trip of the winter! The American golf course superintendants show in San Diego, California!
After an emergency landing to get more fuel on the way there on February 4th, I had finally made it to San Diego! After settling in to my room, unpacking and getting acquainted with my surroundings it was off the bed! The 3 hour time difference had caught up with me!
The next day it was the first day of the conference! I had a 4 hour talk to attend. As usual, I was the only female in class and the only female on that whole level of the conference! Intimidating at first but then you get used to it.
After the second talk on the next day, a fellow Ottawa attendee and I hoped into a cab to check out the outlet mall! Little did we know we were RIGHT beside the Mexican border! Pretty crazy!
After a successful shopping trip we grabbed a ricochet to start our travels back to the conference.
One of my purchases! I had a VERY successful trip to the outlet mall! Coach was having a HUGE sale! And I even got Ryan’s valentines day gift!
Between educational talks and tradeshow walking during the day, the night was all about fun and networking. The best part of the golf industry is networking and getting to know people! A lot of the guys have become great friends! A few were even at our wedding!
One of the most fun evenings was the night we went to the Dueling Piano’s bar! Such amazing music and super fun atmosphere.
The last day of the tradeshow was Thursday. After spending the morning and early afternoon walking the floor, I decided to change out of my business suit and walk down the road to visit the USS Midway museum! Such an amazing piece of American Navy history!
While everyone back home was getting a blizzard on Friday, I had a free day before I had to head home on Saturday. I decided to load a tour bus with other golf attendees!
Don’t be fooled by the nice looking weather! It was raining and FREEZING! I was actually wearing (and needing) my winter jacket!
View of La Jolla
My favorite stop had to be Torrey Pines golf club where not even a week prior Tiger Woods had won! It was amazing to set foot on such an iconic golf course!
They were still taking down bleachers from the tournament!
Along the La Jolla coast we got to see so many sea lions and seals! They are so use to people and you can get really close to them!
It was a great way to end my business trip in San Diego! Visiting some beautiful spots and enjoying San Diego, not just the inside of a building!
Saturday morning I had an uneventful (and thankfully not cancelled from bad weather) flight home! Ryan picked me up at the airport with a special surprise! My favorite flowers!! I was so touched but just so excited to see him and be home!
San Diego marked the end of my winter travels and I have to say I am glad! I had not had the chance to actually unpack my stuff from the beginning of travels back at Disney! Over a month living out of a suitcase!
I am so lucky to work in an industry that allows me to travel and see the world! I am so glad that I got to stay in the beautiful San Diego and yet, there is no place like home!
