Weekend Recap– May Long Weekend!

Happy Monday Tuesday everyone! It was a long weekend up north here in Canada which doesn’t actually mean too much when you own and operate a sod farm! This long weekend is prime time for sod and so we mostly spent the weekend working. But, like with all weekends, we did manage to get a little bit of fun in there too!

Friday was a busy day and Sam had not slept a wink the night before (I hate you 6 week growth spurt). When Ryan came home from work we enjoyed some homemade pizza and then my boys took off for a truck drive to get some parts at a local home improvement store. With that full hour to myself in the quiet home I managed to get a few things done that I haven’t had much of a chance to do by myself in 6 weeks.

Aka:

- Take a shower without hearing a baby cry (I swear, I heard a cry sound though even though I was home alone!)

- Shave my legs

- Do something about the furry caterpillar's above my eyes!

- Apply lotion after said shower

- Blow dry my hair

- Drink a hot tea

It was great but for the last 10 minutes before they arrived home I started going stir crazy and paced around the kitchen. I know it was my crazy post pregnancy hormones but there was a horrific accident in our area last week. So, with all my free time I began to worry about my boys! It was as though if I would be with them they would be safe but because I wasn’t, surely something was going to happen.

Of course, it didn’t. They arrived home safe and sound (and asleep in Sam’s case) and we all headed to bed.

Saturday morning we all had to work! Ry was on the truck delivering sod and Sam joined me and his grandpa at the office to help with some home owners that were stopping by to buy product!

After work the three of us (love saying that!) hung out, puttered around the house and then Sam and I got ready to join the ladies for a special birthday supper!

We all were driving to the city for supper to celebrate Sara’s birthday! We had a delicious supper at St.Louis Bar and Grill! We then headed to Josee’s house for birthday cake and a visit! Of course I wanted to take a quick picture of all of us. It’s not the greatest quality but I am glad to have it!

Sunday morning we loaded up the truck early and headed up to Pembroke for a morning visit with Ryan’s uncle who was up for the weekend camping with his parents. It was nice to sit and have coffee and breakfast with him and his girlfriend (and her daughter) before they headed back home. Ryan and I had a small lawn job to do so the three of us left for awhile. Once we were finished we re-joined Ryan’s parents at their campsite to visit before supper.

We had a great time walking around the camp ground and just relaxing.

We had a small scare with Sam where he chocked on some breast milk but after everything calmed down we had a delicious BBQ steak supper with Bev and Eugene! It was a great way to spend Sunday!

GLORIOUS holiday Monday! When we woke up for the morning we all bummed around in bed for an hour before heading downstairs for breakfast! Sam and Ryan were having a nice chat! ha ha! Its funny because when I was pregnant it was mornings like this that I was looking forward to. Quiet/sleepy mornings where we are all in bed waking up together. Now it is a reality!

Ryan headed to the course for a round of golf and I put Sam down for his FIRST time sleeping in his crib! I spent his nap time close to his room as I cleaned out my closet and re-organized everything. I job that I had hoped to do before baby arrived but had to wait till after!

That evening we were headed to the city for another special supper. For years Jill had talked about her hatred for steak! I always said that she can’t say she doesn’t like steak until she had The Keg. I was bound and determined to make a steak fan out of her! ha ha!

It was Jill and Sam’s first visit to The Keg!

We had an amazing meal that included appetizers, salad, main meal and dessert! We got to enjoy the last ounce of nice weather on the restaurants patio as it started to rain as we were finishing our last bites of dessert!

With full bellies we all headed home and I crashed! After a long weekend and finishing it off with a huge meal I went to bed satisfied with the weekend time spent with friends and family!

How was your weekend?

  1. Sounds like you had a busy, but fun weekend! We went to some garage sales, I got a pedicure and did some things around the house. It's so hard to get any stuff done now with a 4 month old, I would much rather play with her than do laundry or vacuum, but I know it needs to be done!
