Another Surprising Weekend!

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! This weekend was full of surprises but not just for me!

Friday night was so low key after a busy day of running around for our annual company snowmobile trip! Between preparing the breakfast, running for lunch and an afternoon meeting, I was in bed by like 8 PM! Talk about a wild Friday night! ha ha!

Saturday morning we woke up to WAY more snow then the forecast was calling for! Ryan of course had to work so I was on my own! Dad had invited me over for breakfast the day before and I said I would think about it. It seemed like Ryan and Dad were both really trying to get me out of the house on Saturday morning and I didn’t know why! When Dad and I headed to the store for milk before breakfast Dad pulled up to my surprise baby shower!

So many of our neighbours, family, friends and church family were in attendance! The hall looked so beautiful decorated in grey and yellow, babies breath and homemade yellow booties!

The breakfast was catered by the local Cafe 349, which is always a guarantee delicious feast!

It was such a wonderful morning spent surrounded by wonderful ladies! Honestly, this baby has NO idea the wonderful support system that surrounds him/her! Not only are we lucky to have such amazing families on both sides, but our neighbours and friends are as close as family as well! It’s a very secure and safe feeling to know that people are there for you (and your growing family)! Some of these people have watched both Ryan and I grow up and now get to do the same with our own child! We feel so blessed to be part of such an amazing community!

I was pretty spent on Saturday night and have no recollection of when Ryan arrived home from work! Because we got more snow then expected, he had to be up again for 3 AM to head back to the city on Sunday to clear more snow!

We had big plans Sunday morning with our niece Faith who is turning 5 soon! We were talking her for a birthday surprise! Faith and I hit the road and picked up “Uncle Wyan” in the city at work!

Faith was a trooper and came with us for a quick trip to Ikea to grab 3 small things that we needed to complete the baby nursery! I think she had fun as Uncle Ryan pushed her around the store! He is kind of a crazy cart driver!

The next stop was Bayshore Mall for the big surprise, Build-A-Bear! Faith was a little hesitant at first and didn’t know what it was all about. She got a special birthday badge and a sales person to help her with shopping! The sales associate was awesome at making the experience really special! Faith quickly picked up on what was happening! The biggest dilemma was trying to figure out which dress to pick!

Faith only wanted Uncle Ryan to help get Maria, her new kitty dressed in the pink princess dress and sparkly shoes! Ha ha!

It was so fun to watch Faith’s imagination flow through Build-A-Bear! She really loves Maria the kitty and we even had to bring her “house” into the restaurant for lunch!

After an unhealthy birthday lunch we knew we were bringing her home soon so we told her she could have an ice cream sundae for dessert! She ate the WHOLE thing no problem and this is the picture that I sent to her Mommy and Daddy! Smile hee hee!

I still have a hard time believing that Faith is going to be 5! But I am so glad that we got to spend some pre-baby time with her celebrating her birthday!

Ryan is down with a cold and I’m just pregnant (ha ha) so of course we were in bed early after the busy weekend! But it was an amazing weekend from start to finish!

How was your weekend?

  1. She's so cute! Glad you guys had such a great time. Although you know they will pay you back by sugaring up your kid and sending them home. Haha. And TWO baby showers?! Hopefully you guys have everything you need now and you can spend your time resting!
